Double Fantasy

Released in 1980 by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Double Fantasy is the seventh and final studio album released by Lennon in his lifetime. The album is notable for its association with Lennon’s murder three weeks after its release. It became a worldwide commercial success, and went on to win the 1981 Album of the Year at the 24th Annual Grammy Awards.

Lennon’s post-Beatles release showcases his writing and composition abilities. Special guests and back up musicians include the legendary Tony Levin on bass, Earl Slick on guitar and the King’s Temple Choir. The album features the hit “(Just Like) Starting Over.”

“These are really nice tunes, and what’s special about them is their niceness — it’s a sweet acceptance of middle age… Lennon’s best songs here cement the last part of his legend, capturing him at peace and in love.” — AllMusic
